This weekend may mark the end of the warm weather, but you can still bundle up and experience winter in a whole new light. The first ever Urban Candlelight Hike is happening in Three Bridges Park this Saturday, February 25th from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Two miles of the Hank Aaron State Trail will be lit with candlelight for hiking or snowshoeing, and the event will take place with or without snow.
Entrance is free, and there will be a roaring campfire and free marshmallow roasting as well. The Urban Ecology Center will have free hot chocolate on tap and churros for dipping. They recommend bringing your thermos to save on waste and so that you can take your hot chocolate with you on your hike.
If you're new to Three Bridges Park or prefer to hike in a group, you can join the Urban Ecology Center staff on a 3/4 mile guided hike through the park.
If you'd like to snowshoe, but you don't own snowshoes, members of the Urban Ecology Center can borrow them for free from any branch during regular hours on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, in order to have snowshoes to use for the hike.
There will also be an all-you-can-eat pizza dinner buffet & drink specials by a toasty wood-fired pizza oven at Pizzeria 3301 at Villa Palermo.
